When Trump announced the creation of the Office of Doge (Department of Government Efficiency), conservatives saw the light at the end of a very long, very wasteful tunnel. After four decades of bureaucrats, elites, and swamp creatures fattening themselves at the taxpayer trough, here was finally a chance to slash budgets, root out fraud, and restore the government to its proper, constitutional limits.
