A Day Out at Pelican Point: Off-Roading, Photography, and Target Practice
Sometimes, the best adventures are those that combine your passions in a single short trip. Recently, I took my Jeep out to Pelican Point, a spot with rugged beauty, open spaces, and a huge area that allows for shooting sports and target practice. This outing was all about immersing myself in nature, capturing moments on camera, and doing a bit of target shooting. Well, also a bit of time to start planning the videos on Harker Outdoors and documenting the poor quality of the camper.
The Drive Up
There’s something special about heading out even for a short local adventure in the Jeep Gladiator, especially when the destination promises beautiful vistas and interesting subjects to photograph. Although it is only about a 10 mile drive from the top of Saratoga Springs, it certainly feels like you’re leaving civilization behind, trading city sounds for the hum of tires on gravel, the sounds of firearms practice in the distance, and the occasional sighting of a bird of prey circling the landscape from above looking for lunch.
Mountain Views and Snow-Covered Peaks
As I got closer to Pelican Point, the scenery begins to take your breath away. The mountains, freshly dusted with snow, stood majestically against the sky and Utah Lake just sitting below teasing me to drop a fishing line in and see how the fish were biting. I couldn’t resist taking photos trying and capture the moment. The snow highlighted the contours of the mountains, each peak distinct, making for some amazing shots. I knew these photos would be a great way to remember the atmosphere of the day and the raw beauty of the surroundings.
A Bit of Target Shooting
Once entering Pelican Point and navigating to the range area, it was time to get in some target practice. There’s something grounding about the process – focusing, taking aim, and refining my skills. The setup felt perfect with the stillness around me and the backdrop of the snow-dusted mountains.
Camper Challenges: Harker Outdoors Review Notes
During breaks, I jotted down notes for videos I’m creating about my experiences with the Harker Outdoors Camper and the Gladiator. This trip gave me more time to comtemplate how to discuss the camper’s flaws, from setup issues to its less-than-ideal compatibility with my truck. I've been documenting these challenges for a while now, and after jotting some notes down, reaffirmed the importance of sharing my experience to help others make informed decisions before they invest their money in a canopy camper.
Final Thoughts
My day out at Pelican Point was as rewarding as it was refreshing. Whether it was capturing the rugged beauty of the mountains or taking aim at the target range, the experience reminded me why I love these getaways. I'll soon be posting the photos and videos from the trip – and maybe even a detailed review of the Harker Outdoors Camper for those who are considering it.
